Last call for entries: GEICO's Distracted Driving T-shirt Design Contest wraps up on Jan. 24

Time is running out for young artists to create the next GEICO T-shirt design that promotes distracted-free driving.

GEICO is inviting students (ages 6-18) to submit a T-shirt design that depicts how to prevent distracted driving. Designs must be postmarked by Friday, Jan. 24. Students can also submit their work online through the GEICO T-shirt Design Contest website no later than 11:59 p.m. EST, Jan. 24, 2014.

The T-shirt design can be hand-drawn or computer-generated and showcase any or all forms of distractions such as texting and talking on the phone, eating, grooming, and adjusting the radio or GPS navigations while driving.

The grand prize winner will receive a $500 cash prize and the top finalist in each category (elementary school, middle school, and high school) will each receive a $100 cash prize.

In a related contest, high school students (ages 14-18) are invited to create their own music video using one of GEICO’s soundtracks and adding their own original lyrics. The GEICO music tracks can be downloaded from the GEICO Music Video Contest website. This contest also ends on Jan. 24.

Students can learn more about distracted driving by visiting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) distracted driving page, www.distraction.gov, or Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's website, www.iihs.org.
