Forward Together: Campaign Updates and Youth Opportunities
FORWARD TOGETHER CAMPAIGN UPDATE
The Forward Together campaign launched last fall. The campaign is designed to help young people feel more connected – to peers, parents, and other trusted adults. Research shows that youth who are connected are less likely to smoke, drink, vape, use marijuana, and have feelings of depression. Continue reading to learn more about what’s been happening, where the campaign is headed, and how you can encourage youth to get involved.
Campaign Highlights The paid media campaign is for youth, as well as parents and trusted adults (in English and Spanish). It launched statewide last September (more details are below)!
Since then, we’ve been sharing tips, ideas, stories, and interviews with audiences on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok. The websites are filled with new content and resources. Everything is focused on one goal: to help young people feel more connected.
The campaign and the topics covered have been heavily influenced by the pandemic. Never have connections been more important.
As with all public health media campaigns and programs, we continue to rely on evaluation, campaign metrics, and research to make decisions about how to move the campaign forward. This summer we will be launching new ads that are more focused on the quality of relationships between youth and their peers and parents. We'll be sharing the evaluation and research findings in a separate email update.
Finally, as the fiscal year comes to a close, we are in the midst of several new initiatives to increase outreach in communities across Colorado. These include:
Recruiting for and launching a new youth council (more on this below).
Launching a Facebook Live series for parents and trusted adults.
Launching youth ambassador and parent influencer campaigns.
Developing new ads for the paid media campaign.
Continuing to collaborate with parents and young people to develop content.
Input and feedback from young Coloradans is at the heart of all this work because the campaign is for them.
Help Us Recruit CO Youth for the YConnect Council!
SE2 is looking for Colorado youth to participate in the YConnect Council, a team of 10-12 young people ages 16-20 who will provide input and ideas for the Forward Together campaign! Youth council members will brainstorm ideas, create content, and give important input on the campaign. Youth will earn $100 per month for their participation in the 6-month council!
