TGYS Youth Board Member Solicitation:
Application deadline is Wednesday, June 23, 2021
The Tony Grampsas Youth Services Program (TGYS) is seeking applications for Youth Board Members for the TGYS Board. The goal of TGYS is to provide grant funding to programs throughout the state of Colorado for prevention, intervention, and education in the areas of youth crime and violence, youth marijuana use, high school dropout, and child abuse and neglect. Additional information about TGYS can be found at https://cdhs.colorado.gov/
The TGYS Board is a 13 member, Type II body that serves in an advisory capacity to CDHS on TGYS related decisions and is authorized by C.R.S. 26-6.8-103. TGYS Board meetings are held 5-6 times each year virtually or in Denver, CO. Youth Board Members are paid a $30 stipend for each meeting and are reimbursed for actual expenses incurred, such as mileage, hotel and per diem, when attending meetings. The upcoming vacancies may be affiliated with any political party at this time, and the youth applicant must be between the ages of 15 and 25.
Primary Board responsibilities are:
Approve program guidelines
Develop criteria for awarding grants
Determine standards for measuring the effectiveness of programs that receive grants under the TGYS program
Establish timelines for submission and review of grant applications
Review applications received for grants and approve grant funding
Recommend grant selections to the Governor for final approval
CDHS values broad, diverse representation on its boards to ensure adequate representation of stakeholders and the public. Therefore, we are requesting your assistance in distributing this notice to interested and qualified young people in your networks. Ideal youth candidates will have participated in a youth prevention program similar to those being funded by TGYS but are not a participant in a current TGYS Funded Program.
To apply for a Youth Board Member position, applicants must complete the Governor’s Office of Boards and Commissions Application and include a current resume. The application can be found here:
