Traffic safety and injury prevention partners are invited to join Impact Teen Drivers to recognize National Teen Driver Safety Week (NTDSW), happening October 17-23, 2021, with their SpeakUp4Safety social media campaign. This grassroots has brought millions of teens, parents, schools, law enforcement, advocates, and policymakers from across the country together to tackle the number one cause of death for teens in the U.S. - car crashes. The theme of the campaign is "when you see something, #SaySomething".
What do you have planned to recognize NTDSW? Everything you need to “speak up” with us is available at speakup4safety.org.
Here are four easy steps you can take to collaborate with Impact Teen Drivers:
1. Instagram or Facebook: Make a brief statement about why you speak up for safety. (We even provide suggestions and pictures if you don’t want to use your own.)
2. Record an 11 second video using your organization’s logo if you like. Why 11 seconds? Because we lose 11 teens every day in the U.S. (We provide a recording guide.)
3. Post Impact Teen Drivers content and tag us on Facebook or Instagram with #SaySomething#NTDSW. (We provide a link to download our graphics.)
4. Spread the word! Share your social media posts with your coalition members. Ask them to comment, share, and repost.
Your collaboration with Impact Teen Drivers during National Teen Driver Safety Week will demonstrate your commitment to the health and safety of teen drivers in your communities and nationwide, and will help empower teens and their influencers to speak up when encountering an unsafe situation, whether as a driver or passenger. Together we can save lives and stop the number one killer of teens—car crashes, particularly those caused by reckless and distracted driving.
