Youth Opportunity: Youth Employee and Leader Empowerment Training System Update
The Youth Employee & leader Empowerment Training System, abbreviated as YEETS or the YEET System, is a professional development system specifically designed to address the needs of youth who are hired onto an organization to provide a youth perspective.
Through an equitable approach, this system was developed by a wide range of people and organizations, relied on youth employee leadership and input, and intentionally leveraged youth-adult partnerships to create a training system that is informative, youth-led, and youth friendly.
YEETS has some exciting updates we wanted to share with you! YEETS is officially up and running, complete with quarterly trainings coming in 2022 and a website to find recorded trainings, training dates, and other resources for youth employees and leaders!
Our first official training is Meeting Facilitation 101 on January 26th, 2022 from 4:30-6pm. Mark your calendars now! We will be sending out a registration link in the coming weeks and it will also be accessible on our website.
We also have a brand new asynchronous presentation called Data Literacyup now on our website and youtube! Youth employees are often asked to use data to identify an issue to address or as evidence for supporting an issue they’re working on. However, youth rarely receive training for how to understand and analyze this data. This presentation is designed to help anyone, but specifically youth employees, better understand data (particularly surveys), learn how to think about it critically, and help them analyze it themselves. We also have a facilitator’s guide for this training on the YEETS websiteor directly here which is available with a presentation for interested people to facilitate live with groups (ex. CTC coalitions or youth councils). Live sessions maximize the inherent interactivity of the presentation.
