The 1st National Roadway Safety Culture Summit, hosted by the TRB Roadway Safety Culture Subcommittee, will focus on the impact safety culture has on roadway crashes, and the how it can contribute towards eliminating fatalities and serious injuries on our nation’s roadways.  The Conference will bring together leaders from health, transportation, education and other related fields to showcase initiatives that have impacted cultural changes in not only road safety, but also in addressing other critical health issues.   These examples will provide a foundation for better defining the characteristics of traffic safety culture and how it might be influenced. Through breakout sessions and open discussion, participants will take part in identifying areas where additional research might be needed, as well as actions that have the potential to impact highway safety culture among both road users and the safety culture of agencies responsible for the local, state, and national surface roadway systems.
