The Colorado Statewide Youth Development Plan (SYDP) presents a vision for a strong youth development network and strategies for improving an array of youth-focused policies, practices, and programs.

Mini-grants for Emergency Assistance- Phase 2
This is Phase 2 of funding provided by SYDP during the COVID-19 pandemic.  SYDP is seeking to provide supportive emergency assistance to organizations that serve children and youth ages 0-24 in Colorado and are facing hardship as a direct result of the COVID-19 crisis. Eligible applicants can receive cash assistance payments to provide Colorado children, youth, and families funding for food assistance, help with emergency household expenses, and/or services such as counseling, child educational support or employment assistance. 

Example Uses:
  • Gift cards to grocery stores for families (must have a signature by family or digital acknowledgment of receipt of gift card).
  • Emergency assistance with utilities for families (must have receipt of payment).
  • Cash stipends for children, youth, or families (must have a signature by family or digital acknowledgment of receipt). 
  • Restocking food pantry or essential needs (underwear, socks, etc) that agencies provide for children, youth and families.  
  • Technology needs regarding children, youth, or job searches, (computer/ipad for child education or staff virtual home visits, reliable internet at home, wifi hotspot, training on computer or software).
  • Outreach with resources on safety regarding child abuse, domestic violence, and where to get help if individuals are unsafe. 

501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organizations that serve children, youth and families are eligible to apply. Youth are defined as persons aged 0 through 24 years old. TGYS grantees and agencies that received funding during Phase 1 in March 2020 are ineligible to apply. 

This is a reimbursement grant. Funds will be reimbursed for costs incurred prior to July 1, 2020. The applicant must use the grant funds only for the purposes for which the applicant applied. Applicant acknowledges that the SYDP has the authority to withhold and/or recover grant funds in case such funds are, or appear to be, misused. 

Maximum Funding Request
  • Maximum funding request is $3,000, with $17,000 total funding available. 
  • Proposals for smaller amounts are encouraged and will be equally considered. 

Details & Timeline
  • Applications must be received by April 24th at 5pm.
  • Notifications will be made by April 28th at 5pm.
  • Funds must be spent by June 30, 2020. 
  • Invoices must be received by July 10, 2020.
  • Organizations must provide an invoice that details the time, resources, and costs incurred.
  • All expenses must be tracked with acknowledgment of receipt of assistance by family.
