About Our Job:

The  Office of Community & Business Engagement is actively seeking three (3) Youth Advisor for the Denver Teen Safe Streets Program (TSS) as a part of our Safe Routes to School Program. Denver TSS works with city agencies, community partners, and residents to improve knowledge and understanding of the factors related to teen safe driving to reduce teen driving fatalities. We believe young people are the experts in their communities and how youth move around them, and therefore belong at the table to lead and inform policies and programs that affect them and their peers. The Denver TSS youth advisors will be passionate advocates for health and equity and will provide local expertise in their communities and citywide to promote awareness and engagement with safer teen driving programs and policies.

Denver TSS seeks youth expertise in our citywide work in Denver on projects in the following areas:

  • Providing perspective and ideas for programs, activities, and events to discuss and promote safer teen driving
  • Working with residents of all ages to understand perspectives and barriers to safer teen driving in Denver
  • Collecting and presenting data related to your community’s health, such as surveys or focus groups, or gathering Census data, with a focus on strengths and opportunities for improved health
  • Increasing the awareness among residents in your neighborhood of how where we live, learn, socialize, and play affects our health and well-being, and how this relates to social justice and health equity
  • Collaborating and building relationships with existing youth and adult coalitions working on these issues

With support from DOTI staff and fellow youth advisors, as well as coalition partners, job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Attend and participate in community meetings, discussions, and projects
  • Help organize, lead, and participate in TSS meetings and events
  • Work with diverse populations, community residents and organizations to identify local strengths and opportunities to increase transportation safety
  • Develop marketing materials or campaigns to promote safer teen driving and alternatives to teen driving such as riding transit, biking, walking, etc.
  • Participate in planning and carrying out research with high school students
  • Collect data related to teen driving, teen driving behaviors, access to teen driving education courses, understanding of Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) program, and additional factors as identified by youth advisors
  • Plan activities based on research results
  • Work as a team and independently with other youth advisors in an electronic, remote work environment
  • Other duties that may arise


Job Details:

While the full pay range of this Job Classification is $11.29 - $16.48 per hour, the starting salary for this position is $14.00 per hour.


This is a limited position with an expected end date of September 30, 2021.


This is an on-call position which will work no more than 10 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits. On-call positions may have routine or variable work schedules.
