SpeakersLaurie Huntsman is the Zero Fatalities outreach coordinator at the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT). Huntsman began working at UDOT in 2013 in traffic and safety. Because she has lost 23 friends and family members to roadway crashes, she was drawn to the Zero Fatalities program. She began finding ways she could get involved in her rural community and other rural communities in southern Utah. She became involved with three county seat belt coalitions, volunteered at Zero events, and encouraged schools in rural Utah to become involved in the Zero outreach programs. In March, when a full-time position in the Zero program opened up, she jumped at the chance. She felt lucky to get the job and has loved working full-time on the Utah Zero Fatalities team. Annette Larson is the Minnesota South Central TZD regional coordinator with the Minnesota Department of Transportation. She earned a degree Bachelor of Science degree in recreation, parks and leisure services from Mankato State University. She started her role in traffic safety in 2014 after years of coalition building, program/event planning, and implementation. She has successfully built numerous coalitions across South Central and Southwest Minnesota. Larson currently covers 13 counties in the South Central TZD region. Rob Sadowsky is the transportation safety outreach coordinator for Clackamas County (Oregon). He has more than thirty years of government and nonprofit experience in housing, economic development, and alternative transportation. His work focuses on building a culture of safe driving in Clackamas County through marketing, outreach, and policy work. He has served as an executive director of The Street Trust in Portland, Oregon; the Active Transportation Alliance in Chicago; and the Chicago Mutual Housing Network. He also conducts training and strategic planning workshops for emerging organizations. Sadowsky holds an Executive Master in Public Administration from Portland State University and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan’s Residential College in Social Science. He has served on committees focusing on climate change, affordable housing, transportation safety, and low-income transit fares. Jessica Schleck is the Minnesota Southeast TZD regional coordinator with the Minnesota Department of Transportation. She began working with the Minnesota TZD program as a Safe Roads coordinator for Dodge County in 2008. She was hired as the Southeast TZD regional coordinator in 2013 and has since built, coordinated, and supported coalitions across the region. She has been teaching Responsible Beverage Server Training to regional liquor establishments since 2013 and was a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician for more than 10 years. Recently, she coordinated the first-ever cross-border MN/WI motorcycle Flood Run media event. The success of this event has led to four cross-border motorcycle news releases and strong partnerships with WisDOT and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
