Job Opportunity: Community Substance Abuse Prevention Youth Specialist

Community Substance Abuse Prevention Youth Specialist

The Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) Community Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) Youth Program Specialist acts as a resource for the Boulder County community and is an integral part of supporting the work of the Communities that Care (CTC) Coalition and Healthy Futures Coalition (HFC). The position facilitates the Healthy Futures Youth Coalition (HFYC), leading workgroups, recruiting new coalition members, implementing prevention activities, and coordinating meetings and community engagement efforts.

This position works closely with members of the HFC, HFYC, CTC Coalition, BCPH colleagues, and community agencies/coalitions to plan, implement, and evaluate strategies that incorporate and prioritize Positive Youth Development (PYD) and health equity with a focus on mental health and substance abuse. The Community Health Division’s CSAP Program works to engage people in Boulder County by building a thriving community where people do not abuse substances and where all community members have a positive role to play in this effort. In particular, the program works from PYD framework, in which young people collaborate actively in these efforts.

This position is supported through a grant from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Drug Free Communities grant.
